Slidehole Campground sits where the Kenai River bends and the trees grow tall. No crowds, no rush — just the sound of water and the kind of silence you don't find anywhere else in Alaska.

Slidehole Campground isn't on every map, and that's the point. Nestled along a bend in the Kenai River near Anchor Point, we've been offering a quiet place to park your tent or RV for years — long enough to know what visitors actually need, and what they don't.
There's no store, no noisy neighbor, no reason to rush. The river does most of the talking. Whether you're passing through on the way to Kenai Fjords or taking a week to do nothing at all, this is the kind of spot that makes you want to stay longer than you planned.

We keep it simple. The amenities that matter for a comfortable stay in the Alaskan backcountry — the rest you can find in the wilderness around you.
Full and partial hookups available for RVs. Level sites with easy access, surrounded by alder and spruce.
Each site has a stone fire ring. Bring your own firewood — it's the best way to warm up under the midnight sun season.
Walk right down to the Kenai River from most sites. Fishing, kayaking, or just sitting by the water — it's all yours.
Clean drinking water is available on-site. We maintain the supply throughout the season so you don't have to worry.
Hiking and biking trails start right from the campground. The Kenai River State Recreation Trail is nearby for longer excursions.
The road is plowed in winter. While peak season runs May through September, the solitude of an Alaskan winter has its own reward.
Slidehole sits in one of the most productive stretches of the Kenai River. Here's what you'll find when you step outside your site.
The Kenai is famous for king salmon, and Slidehole puts you close to the best runs. Float fishing, bank fishing — it all starts at your doorstep.
Moose, bald eagles, foxes — they all pass through here. You don't need a tour bus. You just need to sit quietly for a few minutes after dinner.
About an hour's drive to the Kenai Fjords National Park visitor center. Perfect base camp for day trips to see glaciers, whales, and seabird colonies.
We're easiest to reach by phone. Call us during business hours — we're usually around, and we'll tell you exactly what you need to know before you pack the truck.
